Alternate Plan Transitions to Regular Plan

Starting September 1, 2025 all participants on the Alternate Medical Plan will be seamlessly transitioned to the Regular PPO Plan. The change will not impact medical benefit coverage and deductibles, co-pays, and out-of-pocket maximums will all remain the same.

In addition, the change will give people previously on the Alternate Plan many additional benefits, including:

  • Dental
  • Vision
  • Time loss
  • Death benefits

No changes to coverage or access.

There won’t be an interruption in coverage for those making the transition, and can continue to use current medical ID cards, and providers under the Blue Cross Blue Shield network.

The Board of Trustees has taken action to ensure that coverage is maintained for Alternate Plan members as they transition from the Alternate Plan to the Regular Plan, as long as hour bank requirements are met. If you are currently on COBRA in the Alternate Plan, you will soon receive a separate notification of the COBRA rates under the Regular Plan effective with September 2025 coverage. New participants under the Regular plan will receive a Delta Dental ID card shortly after the transition.
